Intezar Hussain is one of the most prominent short story writers in the history of Urdu literature. He is famous for his unique style of story writing. “The Last Man” is one of his most popular short stories. This short story is a poignant exploration of human resilience and existential contemplation. Set against the backdrop of a post-apocalyptic world, the narrative delves into the psyche of the sole survivor, grappling with the profound loneliness and the burden of being the last remnant of humanity. This article is based on the deconstructive study of the Urdu short story “The Last Man”.
