This study investigate the glossary of Hobson-Jobson as a crucial lexicographical and cultural text that illuminates the socio-political and commercial life of nineteenth-century colonial India.usualy glossaries are suppose to document the linguistic processes but detailed information reflects historical ,geograpgical and social aspects of india.. The entries capture not only processes of linguistic borrowing and adaptation but also the broader realities of colonial administration, commercial networks. This article examines the glossary as historical source, highlighting how its entries reveal shifts in vocabulary, representations of Indian society, and the broader colonial context.
