POWER DYNAMICS WITHIN THE CHRONO TROPE OF THE NARRATIVE OF “PIERRE MENARD AUTHOR OF THE QUIXOTE” BY JORGE LUIS BORGES
Abstract
Borges is a post modernist writer who is important with reference to critical analysis on account of his stylistic techniques. This paper seeks to discuss “Pierre Menard, Author of the Quixote”, a short story by Borges, especially against the cushion of Foucault’s critical theory. It discusses the narrative structure with respect to space and time and the language employed within it. This study would benefit in understanding the post-modernist discourse of Borges’ narrative. This makes is accessable to a wider readership. It will also help in breaking the intellectual hegemony which is otherwise created, by making the text available to only a selected readership due to complexity in its contentand style.
